You can experience Washington camping without straying too far from the city. Even in the Seattle-Tacoma urban corridor, you're not far from the dramatically beautiful scenery that characterizes Washington state. You'll find many parks in the area for enjoying the state's incomparable natural beauty. The parks below offer overnight camping spots for tents and RV's in some of the state's most scenic locations.
This state park, located just south of Seattle in Federal Way, Washington, is probably the closest state park to Seattle that accomodates overnight camping. The kids will enjoy exploring the tide pools on the Puget Sound beach!
A 30-minute trip on the Bainbridge Island ferry will have you close to this state park which is located on the northeast tip of Bainbridge Island. You'll enjoy the views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier from the beach at this popular park.
This hidden gem of a state park is very well maintained. Take the 45-minute Seattle-Bremerton ferry or drive across the Tacoma Narrows bridge to get there. You'll find a nice beach and fun hiking trails await!
This state park is located in the Green River Gorge and offers whitewater rafting for expert boaters! Boat rental is available nearby. You can reserve a campsite for your tent or RV or reserve one of the three yurts!
