The Seattle Kids Events Calendar will keep you informed about what's happening in Seattle especially for kids and their families.

Many events on the other calendars are also suitable for children, but it's a lot of information to wade through! Most all of those have activities especially for kids. Here I've gathered some events that are specifically aimed at families with children to help you find some of them more easily.

Local architecture firms team up with the Sheraton Seattle culinary team to design, bake, and build amazing gingerbread creations. Vote for your favorite.

An open-air frozen water ice skating rink in Bellevue Downtown Park. It does have a cover overhead, however, so don't let the rain stop you. Free skating lessons on select evenings, onsite skate sharpening, and food concessions are also available. Stroller skating is every Thursday from 2-3pm (Dec. 4, 11 & 18, and Jan. 1 & 8 from 1pm-3pm (1/1 from 9am-10am).


Wildlights at Woodland Park Zoo

Wildlights features wild animals and places created with thousands of sparkling LED lights. There willl be indoor and outdoor displays, food, entertainment, and two real live visiting reindeer, Lucky and Christi . The zoo's historic carousel will be open for rides.


Garden D'Lights - Bellevue Botanical Gardens

November 29 - January 3

Avoid long lines by purchasing tickets online ahead of time. Free nights are Dec. 1,2,3, 4, and 8,9,10,11 - first come, first served.


41st Annual Model Railroad Show

January 17 - January 19
Included in the price of general admission
Pacific Science Center
200 Second Ave N, Seattle Center

Visitors will experience model railroad layouts, displays, hands-on crafts and activities in every building at Pacific Science Center. All ages will enjoy this Northwest family tradition.

Irish Festival

The Festival features booths selling Irish and Celtic products, Irish music, singing, dancing, workshops, lectures, cultural displays, Irish films, children's contests and activities, and more.


St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Monorail will be free from 1:30 - 2:30pm for travel from Westlake Park to the Seattle Center to participate in the Irish Festival.

The parade starts from 4th Ave at Jefferson in downtown Seattle, proceeds along 4th Ave to the reviewing stand at Westlake Park, and ends at the Seattle Center with closing ceremonies at 2pm.


Seattle's French Fest

A family-friendly event that will feature live music, theater and dance performances, international cuisine, seminars and demos, games, and more in celebration of French-speaking cultures.

A yearly event welcoming the arrival of spring, the Tulip Festival offers activities for all ages including a 2-mile and 5-mile run, bike rides, arts and crafts, a battle of the bands, parade, basketball tournament, quilt show and walk, antiques safari, art fair, salmon barbecue, home tour, wine festival, Deception Pass boat tours, and lots, lots more. But even if all those activities weren't available, the drive is well worth it just to see the amazing fields of tulips! If you've never seen it, don't miss it this year!

Spirit of West Africa

Enjoy live performances, visual arts, hands-on activities, foods, games, and a marketplace. This lively and colorful festival features traditional dance and music as well as hip hop, jazz and rock with world-class local and touring artists from Senegal, Guinea, Benin, Mali Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Cameroon.

University District StreetFair

University Way NE from Campus Parkway to NE 50th St.

The longest running street fair in the nation, the U District StreetFair attracts over 300 craft and food booths and over 50,000 people to the University District each year. In addition to the booths, two main stages will feature music, dance performances, comedy, costume contests, and more. A special children's area is set up with age appropriate activities as well.
